NaBloPoMo | That’s All Folks

Source

NaBloPoMo is officially over!  Even though I blog everyday, doing NaBloPoMo was completely different.  I thoroughly enjoyed NaBloPoMo, but it’ll defintiely be a while before I participate in another month long posting challenge.  Its one thing to come up with my original content to post about, but to have to follow daily prompts…well that was another thing.  I’ll definitely do another NaBloPoMo, but it will mostly like be next Spring or Summer.  I’m thinking I’ll do them seasonally, that’s about all I can handle for now.  I really like posting my own content, so I did miss doing that during NaBloPoMo.  Although I did post some original content, I realized early on that it was a bit overwhelming to try to post both daily.  Yes, I had to play catch up with NaBloPoMo at time, but I felt it was important to finish it and finish it strong! NaBloPoMo | The Way I Blog

The Way I Blog

If you were to ask my what my first blog post was, I couldn’t tell you.  I’ve been blogging since 2006, so I’ve been in the game a long time.  I have had at least 4 or 5 blogs, but by far New Mama Diaries is the one I’ve dedicated the most time to and stuck with.  When I first got into blogging, I was all about fashion, makeup, and beauty.  I still have my fashion/makeup/beauty blogs, but they are dormant at the moment.  My blogs used to serve as a supplement to my fashion/makeup/beauty Youtube videos, but I have since stopped making them.  I still love makeup and all that, but just don’t wear it as often as I used to.  I had to put a lot of that aside when I joined the military.  I no longer wore makeup everyday or painted my names weekly.  Plus, being in training, especially OCS, left me no access to technology, nor time.  After a while I just kind of fell off the whole video and blogging bandwagon.

NaBloPoMo | My Proudest Accomplishment

Source

My biggest accomplishment by far would be having my son and becoming a mother. Yes, I’ve graduated college, served my country, gotten married, but none of those things match the blessing of becoming a mother. All those things have made me who I am, and prepared me in different ways for motherhood. I know for a fact that I became more selfless after joining the Marine Corps. You have no choice but to be. As a Marine, especially an officer, you always put your Marines first.

NaBloPoMo | The Last Thing I Hid

Source

The last thing I hid was probably money.  Not in the I conducted a secret heist kind of way though.  It was, because Hubs & I set aside money for savings.  We didn’t have a joint account at the time, and had the money cold hard cash instead of in electronic form.  I know hiding cash is kind of an old school thing to do, but I’ve always done it.  I mean to myself.  Continue reading

NaBloPoMo | Swindled By Retail

Source

Lately, I’ve totally fallen victim to be convinced to buy things.  I don’t know if it was being pregnant that had my guard down, but I was way more gullible when I was.  I think it was due to the fact that I didn’t do any shopping for nearly a year.  It wasn’t until I was 9 months pregnant that I actually started shopping.  I figured whatever our child turned out to be he or she would need something to wear.  And this is where it started… Continue reading

NaBloPoMo | Why I Love A Good Book [Cover]

Source

I be honest I don’t read too many traditional books.  I used to when I was younger, like in middle and high school, but in recent years I haven’t.  I can count the number of actual physical books I’ve read in recent years and it might be two.  However, I do know that if a book has an interesting cover that it catches my eye.  At the least, I will pick the book up and read the back or the prologue to see what its about.  Most of the books I do read these days are how-to books, cookbooks, or self-image/makeup-up/fashion/beauty.  I’m not so much for novels, because I never really take the time out to dive into one and get lost in it.  With the internet and social media, its so easy to get caught up in reading the ‘instant’, than reading a real book. NaBloPoMo | Dressed to Impress

I love fashion!  One of my first jobs was at Wet Seal, followed by Charlotte Russe.  I’ve never had a specific style, always jumping around the fashion spectrum.  This why I’d never be a fashion blogger, I’m not consistent enough.  One day I’m All-American in jeans and a plaid shirt, and the next I’m jazzy in a skirt with peep-toe stillettos.  Up until I got pregnant, rarely wore sweats, yoga pants, or anything thing of the lounge-wear likeness.  However, now I have happily embraced such articles of clothing.  I still don’t wear them very often since I’m now able to fit back into my pregnancy jeans, but I do appreciate them a lot more now.
