I’ve been a mother for a little over a week now and I have been loving it. Even through the sleepless nights and countless diapers changes, it has been wonderful! Every time I look at my son’s (and yes…that feels good to say!) little face my heart melts. Its not just the cute face with chubby cheeks, big brown eyes, and ear-pleasing coos that he makes, it’s the entire gravity of being a mother now. I’ve always wanted children, for as long as I can remember! I’m the youngest child in my family, so I never had the experience of seeing my mom pregnant or having a baby brother or sister. My experience with babies was slim to none, prior to having my son. When I was pregnant with him, I some times thought if the whole motherhood thing would come natural to me. I mean this in a practical sense, not from a bonding standpoint. I never doubted that I would bond with my child, I knew I would. I was more worried about actually handling a baby and taking care of it. Seems like most women wouldn’t worry about the latter, because its common sense. However, I did. Babies are quishy, they squirm, and in general are busy bodies, this is especially true for newborns (i.e. my son).
My son is a real character, yep at a week old he’s already showing some real personality. Here he is below hanging out, looking cool with his Daddy. Okay, in all fairness my husband put those on him, but hey I think we can all agree that a baby with shades on is both cute and hilarious. It’s the moments like this that make me so happy to be a mom and get to experience motherhood.
I just wanted to share my thoughts short and sweet really quick. I’ll be posting the birth story soon, but wanted to share a little bit of my little one with you all. Thank you for all the well wishes, warm thoughts, and support. My husband and I sincerely appreciate it!
xxoo,
Congrats on your son! It is definitely a roller coaster ride becoming a mom for the first time. I for sure worried how good I would be taking care of my baby because, like you, I had very limited experience with babies. I’m sure everything will come to you and you will look back surprised at how well you did with how little you knew!

Thanks so much! It really has been incredible thus far. I’m very excited and looking forward to everything that motherhood brings.
Congrats new mama- and wow, I can’t believe you’re blogging daily on top of being a new mama!! I could barely get myself dressed every day, let along think about writing a blog post!

Thank you so much! Blogging is honestly my outlet. When I can steal a few moments away for myself, I like to come here and talk to the “world” so to say. I’m such a busy body that I’d have it no other way. I’m still learning a lot though about life with a newborn. It seems like it takes forever to get out of the house now, lol!
