Happy Friday everyone! I’m so excited to be participating this week in #AskAwayFriday. I had the privilege of ‘asking away’ with co-host Mrs. Tee from Love, Life, Laughter. She is a wife, woman of faith, and mother to 6, yes 6 children, including three teenagers! This supermom is super sweet and invited me to join in the fun this week. I’m so happy to be connecting with her and answering the questions she had for me.1. Did you always want to be a mother or was it something that came to as it happened?
I always wanted to be a mother. Ever since I can remember I always wanted to be a wife and mother. I did focus on my career first, because I knew when I became a wife and mother that it would be what I wanted to solely focus on.
2. What made you join the Marines?
After graduating college, I worked in my respective professional fields of expertise (Human Resources and Business Management), however I wanted something more. In the back of my mind I’d always wanted to serve my country. I was young, had the world at my fingertips, and wanted a challenge. So, I applied to the officer program, got accepted, went to Officer Candidates School, and commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
3. I love the design of your Blog, is pink one of your favorite colors? If not, what is? If so, why?
You called it! Pink is my absolute favorite color. I like red too, but pink is just so pretty. It’s pretty and sweet, and not overwhelming. Though it can be a soft color, it can also be a very strong and intense color. Might have a little bit to say about my personality.
4. I see you have an Etsy shop…I love your jewelry and how detailed it is…how long have you been creating and what got your started?
I started creating jewelry on a whim. I have always been crafty, but hadn’t delved into the world of jewelry-making until last year. I love fashion and accessories and always buy, so I figured why not make them. I am a very detail-oriented person, so jewelry making allows me a creative outlet to put it to good use.
5. How did you meet your husband?
We met in the Marine Corps. We both just so happen to be from Georgia, so we had an immediate kinship. I’m originally from Atlanta and he’s from Augusta, so it works out perfectly, because the two cities are less than 2 hours apart. We are very family oriented, so we’re glad our respective families aren’t far apart distance-wise.
6. Have you picked out any names yet for the baby?
Yes, we have and we are waiting on little one to arrive any day now! We do not know the gender, so we have chosen to not disclose the names, since we want to keep everything a surprise. Can’t wait to announce and we are truly excited (and anxious)!
7. Would you ever want you child to follow in your footsteps and be in the Armed Forces?
Hmm…that’s a hard one! My husband and I have talked about this before and we are not sure. At the end of the day, I know we will support our child in whatever they want to do and feel passionate about. It’s a world no one can understand until you are a part of it. We would want our child to fully understand that and be ready to deal and cope with all that comes with it.
8. What are you looking forward to the most after having baby?
I most look forward to embracing motherhood and this new journey in my life. Of course, I also look forward to having my body back and being my old high-energy, fast moving self. I think becoming a parent is such a blessing, and I feel so honored that God has bestowed this blessing onto my husband and I. I can’t wait to nurture and teach this little person everything I know and my husband can’t as well. All in all, I’m looking forward to being a mom and everything that comes with it. The up, downs, and all-arounds!
9. Do you have any post-labor plans to pamper yourself?
Well, don’t know if sleeping on my stomach counts as pampering myself, but that’s something I definitely look forward to. I have already done my post-baby shopping, so I definitely look forward to dressing cute again. I do plan on letting family help as much as they possibly want to after baby, so that I can focus on healing and baby. These includes, when they come to visit letting them cook and clean for me, so that I can rest. I can be a bit of a perfectionist, and be very specific with how I like things, so to let go of the reigns will take the pressure off of me. That’s pampering to me!
10. My repeat question on #AskAwayFriday is: Are you on the Coffee Crew or a part of Team Tea?
I am Team Tea all the way! I absolutely love tea. My favorite is good old southern sweet tea, but I also enjoy hot herbal teas. I have quite the collection of teas from Teavana that are in the cabinet waiting on me to indulge in them. I kept away from them while pregnant, so it’ll be a real treat to get to drink them again.
Now you all know a little bit more about me, which is always nice! I love getting to know fellow bloggers and learning more about them. I think participating in #AskAwayFriday, because with baby due any day now, I’d like my readers to know a little more about me, my family, and life.
Thanks so much to MrsTee again for inviting me to play along. Head over and check out her awesome blog, Love, Life, Laughter, and see the answers to the questions I had for her.
Fun times!
xxoo,
First let me say, congrats on the baby! I can’t wait to find out if it’s a boy or a girl! I’m sure you both will make great parents!
Secondly, thank you for your service in the Marines.
I love jewelry, so I will definitely head over & check out your Etsy shop!
Glad you joined us in #AskAwayFriday!

I only drink tea when I’m sicky but I’m trying to get into it a bit more…especially since I’ve found some really cool flavors lately.
You did great for your 1st #AskAwayFriday and I hope we see you again next week

Thank you so much! I can’t wait for baby, my husband and I are so excited. Thank you also for your warm words regarding my service. I’m proud to be serving my country!
Woohoo Team Tea!!
I think it’s admirable that you are waiting until you give birth to find out the gender of the baby. I am way too much of a planner for that. Boo You and your hubby are too sweet. We have a lot of military in my family too.
It’s always a tough question when you have to think about the kids going into the Armed Forces but you are right … support their decisions!

Yes ma’am Team Tea all the way! Thank you for your kind words regarding my service. I’m just doing my part!
Hubs and I always wanted to keep it a surprise, so we are super excited. It drives everyone else crazy, but we love not knowing. Can’t wait to announce once little one gets here though. And yes, it is a tough topic to face, but we have 18 years to come to terms with our children serving if they so choose to do so.
Thank you for serving out country! My brother was in the Marine Reserves- huge respect. Good for you for being able to keep the sex of the baby a surprise! I could never do that. Can’t wait to hear what name you chose!! It was great getting to know you!

The more I read yourblog the more I realize we have in common. I’m an Army Wife (so are you). You’re from Augusta, GA. My Mom lives in Aiken. I’m from Charlotte and you currently live there. So cool!!! Loved reading all of your answers!

Lol, small world! My husband’s actually the one from Augusta. I’m from Atlanta, but I always feel a kindredness to anyone from the south, especially Ga. We are both military, however I’m actually the Active Duty Marine, my husband used to be AD, but has since gotten out. He is a cop now…he just can’t get away from that uniform.
I had a feeling you were from the south! It’s so nice to run into a fellow southerner. We will be moving back soon and are so excited! Thanks so much for stopping by. I always enjoy your blog as well!
It was nice getting to know you. If we have another child, I think I would like to hold off from finding out the sex as well. And girllll I couldn’t wait to sleep on my stomach. haha I will tell you this….when my milk started to come it at first it made it difficult because it would leak. lol
Thanks so much! You know what, if did even think of my milk coming in preventing me from possibly sleeping on my stomach! Yikes! Nonetheless, at least I won’t have a whole child in my body to worry about rolling over on, lol! Not finding out the sex has been exciting, but now Hubs and I are ready for baby and to find out what it is. Any day now!
